Nominees announced for the Video Game Hall of Fame

The Strong’s International Center for the History of Electronic Games® (ICHEG) collects, studies, and interprets video games, other electronic games, and related materials and the ways in which electronic games are changing how people play, learn, and connect with each other, including across boundaries of culture and geography. Today ICHEG announced the nominees for the Video Game Hall of Fame, the nominees came from the gaming communities votes and have created a list of the 15 most nominated games. The inaugural class that will be inducted on June 4th will come not only from community votes but from input from an international selection committee made up of journalists, scholars and other video game experts.

Games will be considered for entry into the World Video Game Hall of Fame based on four criteria: icon-status, longevity , geographical reach and influence.

The finalists are Angry Birds, DOOM, FIFA, The Legend of Zelda,Minecraft, The Oregon Trail, Pac-Man, Pokémon, Pong, The Sims,Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Invaders, Super Mario Bros., Tetris, and World of Warcraft.
